Grace for the Next Chapter — Give the Compliment While It Can Be Heard
Who deserves one specific thank-you from you today?
We can become eloquent about people after they are gone and strangely quiet while they are sitting across from us.
We notice patience, courage, humor, faithfulness, and generosity. We may even tell other people about those qualities. But the person who needs to hear the words can remain the one person we never tell.
Specific appreciation is a small act of grace. Not “You’re great,” but “You made room for me when I was new.” Not “Thanks for everything,” but “The way you kept showing up taught me what faithfulness looks like.”
Choose one person today and name one thing their life has given yours. Say it plainly. No speech is required, and no special occasion needs to be manufactured.
Good words do their best work when the person can still hear them. Who deserves one specific thank-you from you today?
