Why Hobbies Matter in Every Season of Life

We are quick to make room for responsibilities and slow to make room for enjoyment. Somewhere along the way, a hobby can start feeling unnecessary—or even selfish.

But activities that bring healthy joy are not wasted time. They can restore attention, awaken curiosity, and reconnect us with parts of ourselves that duty pushed aside. A guitar, garden, trail, recipe, board game, or good book may not solve life’s problems. It can remind us that life is more than managing problems.

Grace does not only meet us in serious work. It also teaches us to receive good gifts with gratitude.

TODAY’S STEP: Give thirty minutes today to something you enjoy.

REFLECTION: What brings you alive that you have been postponing?
